Q: How do I take notes?

A: Turn your iPad into landscape mode.

Q: How do I view saved notes?

A: Turn your iPad into portrait mode.

Q: How do I change the frame rate?

A: Tap the Projects button and then tap + to add a new project. You will be prompted for the frame rate, start timecode and other details.

Q: How do I synchronize the timecode to my editing application's timeline?

A: Cut Notes can be synchronized to your Final Cut Pro 6 or 7 timeline. Please see the user manual for more details on how to do this.

For other applications, click the Reset button to reset the timecode to the start timecode (as specified in the Project editing window) or click the timecode field to enter a manual timecode value. Then press play simultaneously in your NLE and Cut Notes.

Q: How do I import my notes into Final Cut Pro?

A: Perform the following steps:

  1. Click the Actions button in Cut Notes and select Email Marker List.
  2. Email the marker list text file to yourself.
  3. Download the file onto your Final Cut Pro computer.
  4. Download and install Cut Notes Marker Import.
  5. Launch Cut Notes Marker Import and open the marker list text file.
  6. If the Final Cut Pro project is already running, select it in the list and skip the next step.
  7. Click Open Project and browse for the desired Final Cut Pro project. If FCP is not running, it will launch automatically. When the project appears in the list, select it.
  8. Select the desired Destination Sequence.
  9. Click Send to Final Cut Pro. Markers will be imported into a copy of the sequence inside the Cut Notes bin.
